1. The Couch Is
Not A Napkin
words & music by Jared Cohen
You’re eating some bread, It’s slathered with jam
Now you’ve got jam all over your hands
You’re looking around for somewhere that’s soft
A place you can wipe to get the jam off
But please don’t come near the couch over here
Just look at my face it’s covered with fear
I’ll get you something to make your hands clean
Just please leave the sofa alone!
'Cause the couch is not a napkin and neither is the
wall
The dog is not a towel, that’s not helpful at all
I can get you a napkin before you have time to blink
Or you go wash your hands off in the kitchen sink
You’re running outside, playing in dirt
Now you’ve got dirt all over your shirt
And just like before, you come through the door
Your hands are icky, now there’s dirt on the floor
But please don’t come near the couch over here
Just look at my face it’s covered with fear
I’ll get you something to make your hands clean
Just please leave the sofa alone!
'Cause the couch is not a napkin and neither is the
wall
The dog is not a towel, that’s not helpful at all
I can get you a napkin before you have time to blink
Or you go wash your hands off in the kitchen sink
2. If I Had A Hammer
by Pete Seeger & Lee Hays
If I had a hammer I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the morning
I'd hammer in the evening
All over this land
I'd hammer out danger
I'd hammer out a warning
I'd hammer out love between
My brothers and my sisters, ah-ah
All over this land
If I had a bell
I'd ring it in the morning
I'd ring it in the evening
All over this land
I'd ring out danger
I'd ring out a warning
I'd ring out love between
My brothers and my sisters, ah-ah
All over this land
If I had a song
I'd sing it in the morning
I'd sing it in the evening
All over this world
I'd sing out danger
I'd sing out a warning
I'd sing out love between
My brothers and my sisters ah-ah
All over this land
I got a hammer
And I've got a bell
And I've got a song to sing
All over this land
It's the hammer of justice
It's the bell of freedom
It's the song about love between
My brothers and my sisters
All over this land
3. Animals
music by Jared Cohen
words by Jared Cohen and Julian Cohen
Well a tiger has stripes and a zebra has stripes
And so does an okapi
And a leopard has spots but a lion does not
Just like you and me
A turtle has a shell and I think that's swell
A nice place to hide inside
And a horse has a back strong enough to haul a pack
Or to take you for a ride
Dolphins kinda talk with a squeak and a squawk
They can tell each other things
And a mockingbird doesn't know any words
But they still love to sing
An orangutan can use her feet like hands
To pick up sticks and stones
And a slippery worm can slither and squirm
Because it doesn’t have any bones
A cheetah's really fast, it'll run right past
Just about anything
A monkey climbs a tree to take a nap in the leaves
And can use his tail to swing
And an elephant's ears will help her hear
Her friends really far away
And roosters don't coo, they yell cock-a-doodle-doo
Announcing every day
A pig says oink but... nothing rhymes with oink
So I guess the pig’s alone
And a cat says meow but it doesn’t know how
To say it on the telephone
There are lots of animals in this big big world
I think they're all pretty great
If I had to pick a favorite I don't think I could
Do you have a favorite? Do you think you should?
If you had to pick a favorite do you think you could?
Yell out your favorite... don’t wait!
4. To Everyone In All The World
by Pete Seeger
To everyone in all the world,
I reach my hand I shake their hand.
To everyone in all the world,
I shake my hand like this.
All all together,
The whole wide world around,
I may not know their lingo,
But I can say by jingo,
No matter where you live we can shake hands.
5. Mouse And String
words & music by Jared Cohen
One time I saw the silliest thing
I saw a mouse pulling on a string
The mouse said, “Come on string, let’s get out of here!”
The string didn’t answer because... strings can’t talk
Next thing you know the mouse and string were going
for a walk
The mouse pulled the string all the way into town
The mouse and string just wandered
Not sure what they were looking for
The mouse looked around and saw this half-open green
door
And the mouse and string went to see what was behind
the door
They’d stumbled into the back of something looking
like a shop
But the shop didn’t sell hats or toys or shoes or
balls or mops
The shop sold cakes and cookies
The shop was a bakery, and the mouse was starving!
This little mouse, he probably hadn’t eaten anything in
days
And he told the string his hunger had him in some kind
of haze
The mouse told the string
sadly, “I just want one little bite”
But there are rules and stuff about mice and cakes
And if the baker saw the mouse, make no mistake
It would not be a very good day for the little mouse
The mouse sat around hatching a plan,
As he watched all the customers coming in
He noticed what the baker did with the cakes and
things
Each time a person ordered something
The baker wrapped it up and tied it with string
And that smart little mouse, he got kind of a bright
idea
The mouse waited 'til the baker ran out of
string
And as the baker looked around for more, the mouse
slowly moved in
He climbed up on the counter and pulled the string to
the baker’s hand
And the baker said, "AHHHHHHH A MOUSE! A MOUSE! GET
OUT OF HERE! SHOO! SHOO!"
The baker chased that little mouse right out of the
store
The baker yelled “And don’t you come back here
anymore!”
The mouse was sad his plan didn’t work, he just sat
there crying
A little bit later from behind that green door
The baker came out acting a lot calmer than before
The baker said: “I’m sorry mouse, I shouldn’t have
yelled. I was scared, and angry.
But you weren’t being bad. You were just being a mouse.”
And the baker gave the little mouse a big piece of
chocolate cake
And the mouse was HAPPY!

6. The Whale
by
Burl Ives
In San Francisco town there lived a whale
Who ate pork chops by the pail,
By the pill-box, by the suitcase,
By the bathtub, by the schooner.
Her name was Sara and she's a peach
But you can't leave food within her reach
Nor nurse-maids, nor Airedales,
Nor chocolate ice cream sodas.
She eats a lot but when she smiles
You can see her teeth for miles and miles,
And her adenoids, and her spare ribs,
And things too fierce to mention.
So what can you do in a case like that?
What can you do except sit on your hat,
Or your toothbrush, or your grandmother,
Or anything else that's helpless.
7. Monster Trucks
music by Jared Cohen
words by Jared Cohen and Julian Cohen
You’re big enough, strong enough
To be a monster truck
Super Jumping monster trucks can jump up really high
They can keep their wheels on loop-de-loops
Way up in the sky
Two can go on loop de loops at the same time
As long as they don’t crash, they'll be just fine
Super jumping monster trucks can jump over 10 cars
And buses too, and pools of mud
They can jump really far
Jumping far looks dangerous
I hope that they are safe
The drivers all have helmets on
And seatbelts just in case
You’re big enough, strong enough
To be a monster truck
Monster trucks have giant wheels that make them really
tall
And the drivers have to be really good
To make sure the trucks don’t fall
Sometimes crashing into things is part of the fun
But don’t worry, it’s okay, they’re not hurting
anyone.
You’re big enough, strong enough
To be a monster truck
8. Down By The Bay
Trad. arranged by Jared Cohen
Down by the bay where the watermelons grow
Back to my home I dare not go
For if I do, my mother will say:
Have you ever seen a bear combing his hair?
Have you ever seen a goat rowing a boat?
Have you ever seen llamas wearing pajamas?
Have you ever seen a fly wearing a tie?
Have you ever seen a goose chasing a moose?
I think this song's gone on too long!
9. I Don't Want To Live On The Moon
by Jeff Moss
Well I'd like to visit the moon
On a rocketship high in the air
Yes I'd like to visit the moon
But I don't think I'd like to live there
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I might like it for one afternoon
I don't wanna live on the moon
I'd like to travel under the sea
I could meet all the fish everywhere
Yes I'd travel under the sea
But I don't think I'd like to live there
I might stay for a day there if I had my wish
But there's not much to do
When your friends are all fish
And an oyster and clam aren't real family
So I don't want to live in the sea
I'd like to visit the jungle
Hear the lions roar
Go back in time and meet a dinosaur
There's so many strange places I'd like to be
But none of them permanently
So if I should visit the moon
Well I'd dance on a moonbeam and then
I will make a wish on a star
And I'll wish I was home once again
Though I'd like to look down at the earth from above
I would miss all the places and people I love
So although I may go, I'll be coming home soon
'Cause I don't want to live on the moon
10. My House
words & music by Jared Cohen
I live in an old green house. H-O-U-S-E.
It's a place for all my things
My family and me
There's a garage to park a car
And a tree house in a tree
Take a look around your house
I wonder what you'll see
I love my house and all the things inside of my house
Do you love your house and all the things inside of
your house?
In my house there are closets
A place for all my clothes to go
And I’ve got a bathtub
To wash my hands and toes
There’s an oven in the kitchen
We can bake cookies and bread
And a soft bed in my bedroom
To rest my tired head
I love my house and all the things inside of my house
Do you love your house and all the things inside of
your house?
Some homes are called apartments
Some are called condos
Some people live in cabins
Some even live on boats
But wherever the things you love are waiting safe
inside
That’s a place that that belongs to you
A place that makes you feel fine
I love my house and all the things inside of my house
Do you love your house and all the things inside of
your house?
I love my house and all the people inside of my house
Do you love your house and all the people inside of
your house?
11. Mr. Big Baboon
by Rob Hyman, Eric M Bazilian, Rick Chertoff
A great bear in the woods wants all he sees
From the snakes in the grass to the chimpanzees
We all know it ain't fair, it's a jungle out there
So go bang your drum, Mr. Big Baboon
What monkey see monkey will do
Boom boom boom boom, Mr. Big Baboon
Mad dog on the prowl sees the bear in the trees
They can never be friends, they're natural enemies
So you better beware, it's a jungle out there
Mr. Big Baboon sees the dog and bear
It's a three way tie, it's a stalemate there
Facin' off eye to eye, it's a jungle out there
So bang your drum, Mr. Big Baboon
You can all join in, monkey see monkey do
Boom boom boom boom, Mr. Big Baboon!
